The SPP was initiated in 2005.
It follows a report calling for a series of "closed door" meetings on the integration of our countries.
This report suggests water exports, a common private currency, a resource pact.
This is all being done without public discussion or the inclusion of civil society.

Nationwide Call to Action: Demand a Referendum on the SPP!

Date: Feb 16, 2008
Place: Main Street, Canada
Host: Concerned Canadian Citizens - organize in your town or city!

! CALL TO ACTION !

On Feb 15th 1965 our red and white maple leaf was first raised over Parliament Hill; A flag representing our countries' proud history, and a sovereign nation admired the world over.

On Feb 16th 2008, in cities and towns across Canada, citizens will come together to tell OUR elected representatives that we do not want further integration with our NAFTA partners. Gather in the streets, in churches, in buildings, and let your voice be heard!

The latest attack on Canadian sovereignty is the Security and Prosperity Partnership with the U.S. and Mexico. This partnership is harmonizing all trade and safety regulations, applying the lowest standards, and placing corporate profit before public safety. It calls for continental utilization of resources such as water, oil, food, trees, and people. It is working to bring low-paid migrant workers into our country and drive our standard of living down. Following SPP advice, the three nations are currently forming a joint North American defense force. Part of this agreement calls for closer support of U.S. foreign policy initiatives .

THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE! We demand that the government of Canada reverse SPP advised integration. We demand that until the objectives and motives of the SPP have been fully disclosed to the parliament and people of Canada, there will be no further changes. We demand that Steven Harper acknowledge this countries' concerns about further integration with the U.S. and Mexico. We demand that debate about the SPP will be encouraged by the media. We demand a referendum on further integration with the US and Mexico.

Tell family, friends, coworkers, and strangers about the SPP. Get involved in saving our great country! Contact your local protest organizer, if there isn't someone... start organizing!

The SPP working groups are designed to "...consult with stakeholders; set specific, measurable, and achievable goals and implementation dates; and identify concrete steps the governments can take to achieve these goals." not to ensure public safety, awareness, accountability or environmental health. Therefore, they are not able to incorporate the needs of unions or civil groups because they are not stakeholders
